Every year at Commercial Insurance we seem to get the cream of the crop of college students to assist us as interns, and this year is no exception.  CI President Raye King said “Our summer interns this year have worked so hard and helped us so much.  It’s going to be sad to see them go back to school.”

Helping us this year are:

  • Courtney Monk, entering her junior year at Marshall University
  • Choon Kambara, entering her junior year at Emory University
  • Graham Warren, entering his senior year at Wofford College
  • Will Loeb, attending Colgate University
  • Sarah Kambara, a transfer freshman at Ringling College of Art and Design.

We thank all of our interns for their hard work and wish them luck in school in 2010.

All of our Agency Sales Executives and Division Directors received their Certified Workers Compensation Counselor designation from the Insurance Partners Academy in June. This includes Frank Baer, Raye King, Paul White, Geoff Christian, Brent Burton, Kris Tawney, Trip King, Kathryn Simmons, Geoff Gage, Sandy Jenkins, Ashley Burton and Jason Porter. Obtaining the designation involved three days of classes, studies and graded testing. Although it took us away from our very full days of work, our operations people did a great job of servicing all of our clients while we were away from our offices.

Our instructor is a nationally known and respected Comp Specialist. The class was well worth the expense and time. We hope this will result in our showing you again what makes us stand out, and we hope it will better equip us to serve you.

Ashley Burton, our Associate General Counsel and Human Resources Director, spent three days in Arizona at an Employment Practices Seminar. She reports it provided some excellent information which can be used to help our clients in this area. Ashley has helped many of our clients solve important employment issues, as well as giving classes on such subjects as sexual harassment, hiring, firing, and many other employment related subjects. Contact her at Ashley@ciswv.com and she will be able to provide terms and fees for her many standard programs as well as any that you may want tailored for you.

In an apples to apples insurance world, consider us the orange.

Commercial Insurance President Raye King (along with two of our Morgantown Office Sales and Service Team, Geoff Gage and Hope Gage) meets with Morgantown Chamber of Commerce President Ken Busz.  We are excited to have this office open for business.

Also working from the Morgantown office but not pictured is Kristopher Tawney.

Kris Tawney, a licensed Life and Health agent and Sales Executive in our Benefits Department, is now working out of our new Morgantown Office.  This move ensures that we will have both Property/Casualty and Benefits covered in our Morgantown branch.

Tawney, originally from West Virginia but transplanted to Oil City, PA, made the Morgantown move in January and is thrilled to be back in the city of his alma mater, WVU.  He is a graduate of the WVU business school where he was a member of the WVU football team -- a fact of which he is proud but often too modest to mention.

If you are in the Morgantown area please drop in to see both Kris and Geoff Gage, or call the Morgantown office at 304-241-4541.  Kris and Geoff will both continue to serve clients in the southern part of the state as well.

Once again this year Commercial Insurance is helping make Christmas bright for several area children by participating in the Secret Santa program. CI and its employees teamed up to sponsor 52 children this year, and today several employees spent their lunch hour wrapping presents.

The Secret Santa program of WV was founded in 1984 and provides presents for over 2000 needy children annually. CI is proud to support Secret Santa every year.
